DEGREE EXHIBITION

May 2023

Konstfacks Spring exhibition for Master students 20 - 26 May, 2023. Konsttfack, LM Telefonplan, Stockholm.

The exhibition is open every day between 12.00-18.00.

After five fantastic years as a student at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design it´ s finally time for me to present my Master degree project, graduate and move on to new things in the fall. Come and visit me and all of my fellow graduating students.

"In my degree project, I want to create a design that pays homage to traditional wooden furniture. Pieces of furniture that tell a story and have played an important role in our homes historically, even though they may no longer be needed or used in the same way today. Furniture like the free-standing and lockable linen cabinet or the kitchen sofa with built-in storage and a place to sleep. Furniture that is large in size and can be hard to fit into smaller homes but that holds a huge sentimental value to their owner and often are handed down through several generations.

So, what if I could weave a piece of my own family history into a piece of furniture for the future?"

Find more information about Konstfacks spring exhibition for both Master and bachelor students here.

Welcome and I hope to see you at the exhibition!

MY MASTER PLAN

June 2021

In early spring and in the middle of all hard work with two exhibitions at Stockholm Design Week and my head full of thoughts on the upcoming degree project, the application work for further studies started. On March 1, I submitted a 21-page portfolio with rigorous requirements on the content and how they should be presented.

The happy news came only days into the summer holidays that I, together with 13 students from all over the world, got a place for Konstfack's 2-year education "Master's program in design - Individual study plan in design".

Autumn semester begins on August 30th with new exciting challenges and a mix of new and old classmates to share them with.

HURRAY!!

SCHOLARSHIP

June 2021

In connection with my degree, I had the great honor of receiving a scholarship from Konstfack's scholarship foundation, Community for deserving students for my degree project LIST.

Eager to read my essay? Download the full text here.

I PASSED!

May 2021

My 3 years at Konstfack's bachelor's program in Industrial Design are coming to an end. With three weeks left, my thesis is approved and ready, HURRAY, so now I can just enjoy the time that remains. Maybe build something, fix my portfolio and reflect.

So what happens next? First  of a summer vacation with work at the museum and maybe a summer course. I will get back to you on my  plan for the future...

I wish everyone a summer!!

GROUP EXHIBITION

May 2021

The exhibition "In the shadow of  a lake" will be shown between May 15 - June 20, 2021, Olseröds konsthall, Olserödsvägen 52, Olseröd.

OPENING:   Saturday 15 May 2021, 13.00-17.00.

Other opening hours are Wednesday - Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00, until 20 June 2021.

At Olseröd I show three lake sculptures in different sizes, photo art and my Happypots. I share the exhibition space with Swedish artist Linnéa Andersson who creates fantastic art pieces on a large scale. The lake shapes are made of white copy paper that has a blue tone in it. In different lights, the blue tone is captured, changed and amplified. The works can therefore look completely different depending on where they hang, what time of day it is and whether they hang in daylight or in artificially lit spaces. At Olseröd's art gallery, visitors can walk around and between the three works and experience the phenomenon on site for themselves.

Welcome!

Gonna be so much fun!

PHOTOSHOOT

February 2021

So exciting!! Today, this red custom-made paper form is lent out as props for a photo shoot for an upcoming fashion report in printed format.

Definitely unusual to work with a completely matte paper in strong colors, but it grew on me during the work. Now you just have to keep your fingers crossed that it can get to appear.

GREENHOUSE + ID

February 2021

This year my class has had the great honor of exhibiting at Greenhouse during the second week of February. As the ongoing pandemic puts an end to a physical furniture fair, a digital exhibition will shortly be published to showcase everything nice that schools and the industry have created for the event.

Of course, super sad not to have the opportunity to meet all visitors and show off our creations "live", but we will do our utmost to present our works and represent our school in the best possible way.

This year's fair has the key words SUSTAINABILITY - INNOVATION - CURIOSITY in focus and to that we at Industrial design have chosen to apply the theme FUTURE.

THE YEAR 2020

January 2021

Time to sum up the art and design year 2020. A different year for everyone around the world. A year where every positive event and input meant a lot. A year where, despite all the restrictions, I had great opportunities to showcase my art and design, something I am so grateful for. We do not know what 2021 has to offer but I am charged and ready to create both large and small stuff...

I have changed the design a lot since the last time I ordered both in form and layout to find an expression that better represents me and what I create.

VACATION OR NOT...

June 2020

Yesterday we digitally witnessed our third year Bachelor and second year Master students graduation, receive scholarships and toast each other a in Spökparken. Today we had our end of term celebration via Zoom and viewed this year Exam work digitally via Konstfack's website. All these digital solutions are created and in place for us to be able to see each other without actually meeting and participate without physically being in place  would probably have felt strange a year ago but with the spring we all had during this Covid pandemic, we have had to learn new ways and tricks - some good and some not optimal ways have been tested and of course it has worked but the very best closing gift we could get was the confirmation that we will all be allowed back to school this fall!

So what's happening on this summer? My trip to Croatia is canceled and we are not allowed to visit my 96-year-old grandmother at her nursing home or for that matter fly there. The museum is still closed and if they open at the end of June, it is on a very limited scale and we are many who share the work shifts. My plan is to prep and build art pieces for the autumn exhibition, sketch on ideas for my coming exam work and a summer course in Circular Textile, after all we have practiced studying digitally all spring so one more course is no problem...

SCHOLORSHIP

April 2020

This year I have had the great honor of receiving a scholarship from Ulla Fröberg Cramér's scholarship foundation for a project I am working on. More information about it will come but as a little "sneak peek" it has to do with all the rolled newspaper on the picture..

The scholarship is awarded twice a year to students and teachers at Konstfack according to the following criteria:

"Available returns shall be used for the formation of scholarships for unmediated students at Konstfack in Stockholm, who through good conduct, diligence and greater aptitude have made themselves deserving"

I am really so grateful and happy for this scholarship and the support it gives me to complete my project!

HOME SCHOOLING

March 2020

From now on, all education at Konstfack will take place digitally to avoid the spreading of Covid-19 among students and teachers. For how long, no one knows. Of course, health always comes first and we can only keep our fingers crossed that we will soon be back in our workshops again. Until then, we run lectures, tutorials, presentations and coffee over Zoom.

Keep a distance and help and take care of each other and we will get through this pandemic as well!

ART ASSOCIATION

May 2019

In the spring of 2019, my work "KLAN" is part of Handelsbanken's annual art lottery. It will be so exciting to see where the work ends up next...

"KLAN" is created from felt, wood and metal and is a further development of my work "FAMILY BAND" where I create the same shape / pattern in white copy paper.

"KLAN" was shown for the first time in connection with Gerlesborgsskolan's spring exhibition in May 2018 and immediately afterwards at Galleri Helle Knudsen where the work was also sold.

The image on the art association's website is not of the best quality, so I have taken the liberty of using one of my own images instead.

GRUOP EXHIBITION

May 2019

June 15 - August 31, 2019, Frövifors Paper Mill Museum, Frövi.

Vernissage Saturday 15 June at 11.00-14.00.

Other opening hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10.00-16.00 up to and including August 31 2019.

Together with 7 other artists, I have had the privilege of building my own little world out of paper for the exhibition "A Paper Art Fantasy" which will be shown at Frövifors paper mill museum this summer.

The work I will be exhibiting is called "SOILU" and is made up out of thousands of strips of white copy paper. The shape curls in a water-like pattern, a closed cycle in both stillness and constant movement, which is enhanced by the reflections it creates. Illuminated by color, "SOILU" hangs down from the ceiling and spills over the podium.

"SOILU" is named after a lake in a village in northeastern Finland that contains large parts of my family history.

Come and visit the exhibition this summer!

BACK TO SCHOOL

September 2018

September 3, 2018, Konstfack, Stockholm.

This year I am starting my 3-year bachelor's education in Industrial Design at Konstfack in Stockholm.

With a long career within finance, HR and project management behind me, I decided that it was time for me to completely change course in life and explore and develop my creative side. After two years at preparatory art and design schools, first at the Art School in Stockholm and then at Gerlesborgsskolan, I applied to Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design school for the first time - and I got in.

For me, good design is a smart combination of finesse, form and function.

The following of my works were shown during my solo exhibition: GENERTIONSSKIFTE, TUSEN SJÖAR, GUNGAR MED MORMOR, REDSKAP PÅ FINSKA, RINGDANS, SFÄR och PAPILJOTT.

The word identity has acquired an actualized meaning in today's public debate. The concept is illustrated in short workshops and in one's own artistic work. We want to explore and visualize the theme based on political, social and psychological aspects.

My work - FAMILY BAND - is made of 1,700 strips of white copy paper mounted on and in a frame made of pine wood. Dimensions 300 x 200 cm.

Warm welcome!
